Santan Freeway HOV Lanes Design-Build

Santan Freeway HOV Lanes Design-Build

The Arizona Department of Transportation is constructing direct ramps connecting the Santan Freeway (Loop 202) High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes to both the I-10 and Price Freeway HOV lanes. The aim of HOV lanes is to increase traffic flow, promote carpooling and broaden the regional transit network.

As a subcontractor to the joint venture of Pulice Construction, Inc. and Granite Construction, Inc., Morrison-Maierle surveyors are providing all construction surveying and layout for the four bridges, HOV lanes, and an intricate drainage system. This was a fast moving design-build project, so plans were only provided one or two days before the work began, presenting Morrison-Maierle with the task of QA/QC in the field to check that the plan design fits the current conditions.
