Walter Pump Station
Walter Pump Station is an integral part of the City of Billings, Montana, distribution system as the sole pump station serving the northeast portion of the city. The original Walter Pump Station was constructed in 1965 and had provided reliable service to transport water to a large area of the City’s distribution system. However, the original building did not provide enough room for current and future expansion and after 43 years the pumps were reaching the end of their expected life and needed to be replaced to ensure reliability and increase their efficiency and capacity. Morrison-Maierle was the lead engineer in helping to provide an economical and efficient design for this expansion.
Construction on the Walter Pump Station Improvements project began on August 30, 2007. The completion of the Walter Pump Station improvements provides the City of Billings with confidence that this pump station has the capacity to serve the needs of the Billings Heights users through the next 20 years.
