Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Fire Training Research Center
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport’s Fire Training Research Center (FTRC) provides agencies with Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) and structural training services in an environment unique to any other training center in the world. The FTRC’s A-380 Multi-Purpose Trainer is the only A-380 mock up in the United States. It provides all levels of students with a one-of-a-kind, realistic experience that prepares them for a real aircraft incident.
Morrison-Maierle designed the infrastructure for the new A-380 mock up. The design included the pit reconstruction, the foundation for the mock up, and the fully automated drain system. The new pit can be used for either propane fuel or hydrocarbon fuel such as Tech Flame. The site also includes a treatment area for the stripping of unburned hydrocarbon fuels and training foam, as well as the ability to re-use the recycled water in the burn pits.
