Ricardo Zavala

Ricardo Zavala is a senior civil engineer in our Boise office, with experience in project management, planning, entitlements, civil design, and construction administration for commercial developments, urban redevelopment, and residential and commercial subdivisions. His expertise includes site development, grading and drainage, stormwater, water and sewer systems, roadway design, utility design, surveying, erosion and sediment control, and SWPPP compliance. He also brings experience with ADA accessibility and green stormwater infrastructure.

Throughout his career, Ricardo has led complex public project processes, working with public agencies as a prime consultant and coordinating multidisciplinary subconsultant teams. His project experience ranges from small developments to multimillion-dollar projects, as he has represented owners and presented project information at public meetings.

What Ricardo finds most rewarding about civil engineering is witnessing projects transform from initial concepts into fully completed facilities that positively impact the communities they serve. Whether it’s improving utility infrastructure, designing safer streets, or creating spaces that enhance accessibility, he believes that “every project presents an opportunity to improve how people live, work, and connect with their communities.” He emphasizes the importance of balancing technical expertise with community needs, collaboration, and long-term stewardship.

Outside of work, Ricardo enjoys spending time with his family and supporting his children’s high school and club basketball programs, attending games and tournaments throughout the year. He also enjoys camping, wake surfing, and snowboarding with his family.
