Four projects win 2018 ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards
The awards were given in the Environmental, Waste and Storm Water, Transportation, and Special Projects categories.
The four projects are listed below:
Morrison-Maierle received four 2018 ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards from the Montana Section on November 1, 2017, at the Joint Engineers Conference in Helena.
Butte-Silver Bow WWTP Phase 2 MBR Upgrades
Project Engineer of Record: Jeremy Perlinski. Project Manager: Scott Murphy. Description: Morrison-Maierle developed a cost-effective, efficient wastewater treatment plant in Butte using advanced technologies. Built on a small footprint, the facility, the largest in the upper Rocky Mountain region, minimized the environmental impact near a Superfund site with heavy metals and organic compounds and also met strict environmental standards.
Billings-Logan International Airport Pond D Storm Drainage System
Project Manager: Heather Mosser. Description: The Pond D storm system project was unique because of the new techniques and materials used to complete the required rock drilling and pond system design to move stormwater from the Billings airport to a nearby drainage. These proved to be not only effective, but significantly less expensive than traditional methods.
Carroll College Hunthausen Activity Center
Project Manager: Mike Brandt. Description: This project required multi-disciplines from Morrison-Maierle to deliver a design that met the Carroll College’s requirements and budget. It is the first ever energy-efficient building on campus. The team developed solutions that fit a large building with a complex design into a small site that was ADA compliant and awarded a LEED Silver certification.
French Gulch and Moose Creek Restoration
Project Manager: Matt Barnes. Description: The French Gulch and Moose Creek Restoration Project restored over four miles of stream and floodplain on public land. This area, which was extensively mined in the 1800’s, required a collaborative solution that remediated the area so it once again became habitable to native fish and other aquatic species.
