Ben Berry recently received his Certified Water Rights Examiner (CWRE) certification in Oregon. This new certification allows him to help water rights holders (municipalities, farmers, developers, and others) secure new water rights, make changes to an existing water right, or transfer some of their water right to others.

“Obtaining the CWRE has allowed me to connect with irrigation districts, the Oregon Water Resources Department, and cities. There is a relatively small pool of CWREs in Central Oregon, so I’m pleased that I will now be able to help our clients with their CWRE needs,” says Ben.

With his CWRE credential, Ben is looking forward to engaging directly with water resources management in Deschutes County, which has been in a moderate to severe drought for the majority of the last decade. He said that “efficient water delivery is crucial to maintaining our communities, farms, and healthy rivers.”

Ben’s been with Morrison-Maierle since 2021. His favorite projects so far have been affordable housing and shelter projects in Central Oregon because he says that housing is such a pressing need for Bend and the surrounding areas.
