Ty Walker Named Helena Survey Market Group Leader
We are pleased to announce that Ty Walker has been named the new Helena Survey Market Group Office Leader (MGOL). Ty is a University of Wyoming graduate and a professional land surveyor, and he also has his remote pilot’s license. He will celebrate 13 years with Morrison-Maierle this summer.
Ty has worked on a variety of projects with Morrison-Maierle, but he especially enjoys being involved with projects that challenge him. His favorites include the award-winning Hauser Dam Turbine Replacement project and the Staking Mining Claims for Stillwater Mine project in the Beartooth Mountains. He says, “One challenged me on a technical ability level, and the other tested me physically.”
One of his favorite Morrison-Maierle memories is of the first annual surveyors gathering in 2024. During the event, surveyors from almost every office met in Craig, Montana, to float the Missouri River for a few days. Ty says, “It was great to get to know everyone better outside of work, and I walked away with a newfound respect for everyone on the team.
When asked about this new role, he said, “I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t work with the most talented survey team in the state. I am truly humbled by this opportunity, and I often feel like an imposter when comparing myself to the integrity and professionalism I see displayed by my colleagues at Morrison-Maierle. Working with such dedicated and inspiring individuals has been a privilege, and I am grateful every day for their support.”
Outside work, he keeps busy coaching East Helena High School baseball, hunting, and fly fishing. He says, “As the dad to three boys, keeping my head on a swivel is what I do most.”
Congratulations, Ty!
