Nick Kraus

Nick brings 28 years of experience in water resources engineering, with deep expertise in irrigation infrastructure, dam hydraulics, fish passage and screening, flood studies, and hydraulic modeling. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with project owners, stakeholders, and design teams to solve challenging technical problems that benefit individuals, communities, and the natural environment.

Nick’s approach to engineering is rooted in practical problem-solving and service. As he puts it, “I get the most satisfaction from using my skills to solve difficult challenges for people and communities—especially when a project makes an immediate, meaningful difference.” That perspective has guided his work across the Intermountain West, particularly on projects that improve infrastructure, restore natural systems, and create recreational opportunities.

In addition to his professional work, Nick is actively involved in his community, volunteering with organizations such as Idaho Rivers United and USA Climbing, and maintaining long-standing involvement with Trout Unlimited. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife of 29 years and their two sons.
