Community Support in 2020

Building better communities is at the core of everything we do at Morrison-Maierle. In 2020, we contributed approximately $214,000, or 6.6% of our income toward causes that we’re passionate about.

We also are fortunate to have many employee-owners who contributed individual efforts to help improve life in their communities. Here are just a few examples of the many goodwill efforts and community giveback initiatives that took place in 2020.

75th Anniversary Scholarships

As part of a year-long celebration of our 75th Anniversary, Morrison-Maierle awarded 12 scholarships, each worth $750, to graduating high school seniors. These scholarships represent our commitment to building the workforce of the future.

These 75th Anniversary scholarships were awarded to a student from each community where Morrison-Maierle has an office. This includes Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Helena, Kalispell, and Missoula in Montana; and Casper, Cody, Gillette, and Sheridan in Wyoming; and Spokane, Washington. Additionally, one scholarship was awarded to a child of a Morrison-Maierle employee–owner.

A Season of Sharing

It goes without saying that 2020 brought challenges to so many. Our communities struggled with food shortages, housing difficulties, and maintaining social programs and outreach. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, instead of giving traditional gifts for the holidays, we set aside $10,000 to support the causes our clients cared about the most.

With input from our friends, clients, and partners, we supported three community organizations—American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and Make-A-Wish.

Through this effort we gave $2,200 to American Red Cross, $3,800 to Habitat for Humanity, and $4,000 to Make-A-Wish.

Individual Giving

While many fundraisers and charity events were cancelled in 2020, there were many smaller, grassroots efforts that employee-owners orchestrated in their offices. From providing support to veterans during the Thanksgiving holiday, to organizing food, coat, and mask drives, our teams across Morrison-Maierle stepped up in a big way to help their communities.

One of the many efforts by employee-owners to support their communities was orchestrated by Paul Heffernan and Pete Weber who helped organize a coat drive for Soft Landings Missoula.
