Webinar – Designing Lift Stations
Reviving the Heart of a Collection System – Reserve Street Lift Station
The City of Missoula Reserve Street Lift Station is the heart of the wastewater collection system in south Missoula. The City needed to update this station and wanted to focus on planning for growth and having operational flexibility in the new design. Instead of taking the traditional two-pump lift station approach, which would have resulted in two large pumps and an above ground building in DOT right-of-way, we reduced the size of the pumps while increasing the flexibility of the system and keeping infrastructure out of the right-of-way.
Participants will:
- Learn about the change in flow conditions over 10-years and the operation of the four-pump system
- Understand the benefits to operations and maintenance using a multiple pump system
- Discover the ability to lower electrical costs, which is the number one on-going expense for lift stations
- Learn about how to optimize pumping operations in confined spaces, and the differences in a wet-well/dry pump system and a submersible lift station
