Morrison-Maierle’s Corporate Leadership Team (CLT) is the backbone of the company and its operations. From project delivery and client services to marketing, business development, human resources and information systems and technology, our team helps guide the company toward its goals and objectives.

Scott MurphyScott Murphy, President and Chief Executive Officer

As Morrison-Maierle’s eighth President and CEO, Scott is responsible for the overall strategic direction and leads the company in achieving its vision of making it an extraordinary place to work and a pre-eminent engineering firm in the West. In his 22 years with Morrison-Maierle, he has also served as the company’s Chief Client Services Officer, Helena Operations Manager and Water-Wastewater Market Group Leader. Scott has managed water reclamation projects throughout the western United States. Scott has a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Montana State University and is a graduate of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Senior Executive Institute. Scott was the recipient of the American Water Works Association’s George Warren Fuller Award in 2010 and the Water Environment Federation’s Arthur Sidney Bedell Award in 2007. An active leader in youth, community and industry organizations, he serves as President-elect of ACEC of Montana, and recently joined the non-profit Helena Regional Sports Association Board of Directors.

Carl Anderson, Senior Vice President, Chief Operations Officer

Carl is a Vice President and the Chief Operations Officer. His expertise lies in water, wastewater, and storm water projects. He earned a B.S. and a M.S. in Civil Engineering both from Montana State University in 1983 and 1984. He started his career at Morrison-Maierle in 2004 and has been on the Board of Directors since 2008. Carl is experienced in project development, design, construction management, and coordinating client and project requirements. He has served as a Billings YMCA board member since 2017.

Sonya LecknerSonya Leckner, Secretary/Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer

Sonya oversees the Accounting and Finance divisions at Morrison-Maierle to ensure that fiscal processes and procedures meet the company’s growth initiatives. She holds a B.A. from the University of Washington and a M.B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Montana. Sonya began her career at Morrison-Maierle in 2002 as an accounting technician, working with our subsidiary, Morrison-Maierle Systems. She was promoted to Financial Manager in 2009, Director of Finance in 2013.

casey hanson morrison-maierleCasey Hanson, Vice President, Chief Technical Services Officer

Casey is Morrison-Maierle’s Director of Technical Services. He has been with Morrison-Maierle since 2004 and works as an engineer in our Water-Wastewater Market Group. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from North Dakota State University and a MPEM from Montana Tech. He has more than 20 years of experience in the water-wastewater discipline and has managed a number of large projects such as Morrison-Maierle’s Gillette Madison Pipeline Project. Outside of his engineering work, Casey has served on the firm’s Board Nominating Committee and continues his service on the ESOP Committee. His volunteer work includes the LinLee Lakes RSID Board and as a den leader for the Past Pack 80 Webelos.

john lavey morrison-maierleJohn Lavey, Director of Strategic Marketing

John is Morrison-Maierle’s Director of Strategic Marketing. He joined the firm in mid-2019 and leads the company’s Marketing Services department in the Corporate Office. He holds a B.S. in Environmental Studies from Boise State University. John has served as a communications professional in a variety of positions from public service, non-profits, and the private sector. He also has a background in Land Use and Community Planning in the western states. John serves on the board of the Montana Association of Planners and also serves on the board of the nonprofit Looking Bear Leadership.

Letha EbeltLetha Ebelt, Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer

Letha is focused on making Morrison-Maierle an extraordinary place to work by helping employee-owners live by the company’s Core Values. She works closely with senior management to assist employee-owners in achieving their professional and personal growth goals. Letha began her career at Morrison-Maierle in 2006 as the Benefits Manager and was promoted to the Chief Human Resource Officer in 2012. She has a B.A. from the University of Montana in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and Finance.  Letha enjoys participating in the various community service events that Morrison-Maierle supports such as assembling Kids Packs for the Helena Food Share and Spirit of Service.

Brett EtzelBrett Etzel, Vice President, Chief Information Officer

Brett Etzel is Morrison-Maierle’s Chief Information Officer. He has spent much of his career in positions with engineering consulting companies, private business, government, and military work forces. Brett has a B.A.S. from the University of Montana and earlier diplomas from the Denver Institute of Technology and the Naval Air Technical Training Center.

Kurt KeithKurt Keith, Senior Vice President, Chief Client Services Officer

Kurt is the firm’s Chief Client Services Officer. He has been with Morrison-Maierle since 1993, serving previously as the firm’s Buildings Market Group Leader while actively involved in the business development and the structural engineering aspect of that group’s work. A vice president since 2008 and member of the Board of Directors since 2017, Kurt received his B.S. in engineering science from Montana Tech and M.S. in engineering with a civil-structural emphasis from Purdue University. For more than 18 years, he has served as a one-on-one mentor to K-12 students through the Child Advancement Project in the Bozeman School District and enjoys being a big brother in the local Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
